GrandGram #11

Written by Grandma Beth

I wrote this poem with deep gratitude for each of our six married children who are now raising our twenty grandchildren. I see their hearts to dedicate their children’s lives to God’s uniquely created purposes for them. The Kingdom of God values they are instilling in their children’s lives now, God’s word promises, will be with them for life.

As grandparents, we get to be our children’s greatest cheerleaders, offering them support in their parenting journey, and dedicating our lives to being powerful and living examples of God’s Kingdom values to our grandchildren.

Here are the scriptures from which this poem received its inspiration:

“Dedicate your children to God and point them in the way that they should go, and the values they’ve learned from you will be with them for life.”

Proverbs 22:6 TPT

“Jesus said to them, “I am the Bread of Life. Come every day to me and you will never be hungry. Believe in me and you will never be thirsty. For my body is real food for your spirit and my blood is real drink. The Father of life sent me, and he is my life. In the same way, the one who feeds upon me, I will become his life.”

John 6:35, 55, 57 TPT
Dedicate
Dedicate! It’s not too late
Point your children to the Gate

Jesus longs to let them in
The Narrow Way is found through Him

Once they come in through the Door
Watch the wonder through them pour

Expansive is the other side
Beyond their wildest dreams the ride!

Yes! God’s Kingdom is never limited
With Jesus as their living bread

Once they taste and see He’s good
He becomes their scrumptious food

When Heaven’s values fill their plate
Other foods don’t taste too great

So dish out kindness, heap up grace
Watch the looks upon their face

Pile up joy to overflow
Pack in patience as you come and go

Dollop honor along their way
It opens their hearts to all you have to say

Serve up a willingness to be
An example of true humility

For when each meal you share is real
They learn it’s safe to share what you feel

Provide deep dishes seasoned with prayer
Spiced with the seasonings that show you care

And savor the flavor they bring to the table
Help them feel seen and also enjoyable

Delight in the glory God dresses them in
When they know who they are, it’s always a win!

Pack every portion with such lavish love
That they relish the goodness each dish is made of

Fill up their plates with fuel for fun
Because joy is essential for everyone!

Garnish their lives with encouraging words
So they know they are seen and see they are heard

Savor their unique expressions and ways
So in fullness they’ll flourish all of their days

For what they partake of shapes who they are
Feeding them REAL FOOD is best by far

As Jesus’s life fills their plate
Blessed is the child you dedicate!
